The 2022 FMMGA Challenge Tournament is in the books.  Turned out to be a pretty nice day after a hurricane/tropical storm came through the previous two days.  Not going to lie, the course was wet for sure but honestly not nearly as wet as I was expecting.  All in all, the tournament turned out to be a “Challenge” without being ridiculous !!

Scores were high as expected.  If I do say so myself, I do think that Stevie Giampietro and I set up a fun and fair golf course.  The pins were tough but not crazy.  The tees were inventive without being impossible.  G and I truly hope you all enjoyed the day, your groups and the time afterwards having a beer and some GREAT FOOD !!! Its all about the fun and fellowship for this event for sure !!

There was some good golf.  We are paying 6 spots in each flight – 3 low gross and 3 low net.  The proshop will be adding credits to your account and they should be available to you by mid-week.

Payoffs are as follows:

1st – Low Gross/Net - $100.00 each

2nd – Low Gross/Net - $60.00 each

3rd  - Low Gross/Net - $40.00 each

I’d like to recognize each flight winner.

3rd Flight – New comer Bill Butler won low gross with an 86 although Bill actually had low net for the whole event at 72.8 for that score.  Pieter Degraaf won low net for the flight.  By the way, Pieter came up with the idea of having a hole using lower clubs.  We did this on 15.  His idea was to use no club with length greater than 7-iron.  G and I modified that to using a 7 and 9 iron only.  I think that was fun although there were mixed reviews.

2nd Flight – Rob Boyer – Mr. Sneaky good – told me they were taking par shots at some point but he came in with low gross at 85.  Jeff Huber had a 78.2 to shoot low net for the group and take that top spot by a tenth over Gregg Ferrell.

1st Flight – Well, as I said after the round – Jason Steiner gave everyone a chance.  He shot a very uncustomary 77 for the day but nobody could capitalize on that and Jason did win 1st place gross with that mark.  We did have 3 guys shoot 78 to loose out by one – but still good playing.  Dan Drane, Brian VerHage and Scott Couchenour all shot 78.  VerHage had the only eagle of the day with a 3 on number 9 !!! Bill Ross finished 1st net with a 74.2.  Bill coming off some shoulder problems is still getting back into form.  An 80 on that course is a really good score !!!
